Who doesn’t appreciate the efficiency of templates? They save time and remove you from the tedious task of building the same journey structure again and again. That’s where Journey Canvas templates step in like a hero. Just grab a template, drop it onto the canvas, and voilà. You’re all set to add creatives, audiences, targeting, and customizations.
Use any of our fully customizable stock templates, or create your own for reuse. Just a quick note: templates are only available for Journey Canvas. We don’t have Classic Canvas templates (yet), but stay tuned.

Take a tour and learn how to find and use templates.

Opening the templates library
The library of pre-built (stock) templates, which you can customize, and custom templates (the ones you create from scratch and save) is available inside the Journey Canvas environment. There are several ways to access the library.
- If you create a new journey, the workflow displays a window with template options. Choose a stock option or click My Templates to view and use the templates you created and saved (if any).

- If you're working with an existing journey and want to see the options, go to the top of the canvas and click the diamond icon. A window with template options displays.

- You can also access template options from a path. Drag a path tile (e.g. Open Web) to the canvas and click the Use template link. In the pop-up, select a stock template (see below for features and options) or one of your custom templates.

Reviewing stock template features
- Customizable templates. Our template catalogue has four core options. Each option comes with multiple path configurations and conditions. While working on the canvas, choose the path (or paths) that works best for your project, modify as required, and remove the others from the canvas.
- Agnostic design. We removed all integrations and advertiser-specific content (e.g. audiences, creatives, pixels, private deals, and third-party accounts) from the templates. That gives you maximum design flexibility.
- Template overwrite. If you drop a journey-level stock template onto a canvas with one or more existing paths, illumin deletes all your original work and then applies the template. Before wiping the canvas, illumin displays a confirmation popup, but there is no Undo button if you continue with the overwrite. (FYI, your custom path templates do not overwrite the existing work. Instead, illumin simply adds that template to the journey canvas.)
Stock template options overview
Awareness Open Web Journey
If you select this option, illumin drops four ready-to-rock paths onto the Awareness stage. Each path comes pre-configured for a different creative type for quick utilization, but you are free to modify or delete those paths at will.

Engagement Open Web Journey
A great option to build engagement. The template drops three paths onto the canvas with ready-to-load video, native display, and display steps. Because they're all about engagement, the paths come pre-loaded with Click conditions (which you can customize).

Conversion Open Web Journey
Convert site traffic into sales or increase basket size through native display and display campaigns.

Multi-channel full-funnel journey
Transition users across a three-stage, multi-channel journey from awareness to conversion.

Saving as a new template
Let's say you drop a template onto the canvas, make all kinds of customizations, and create an intricate masterpiece that you'd love to use again and again on other journeys.
The solution is simple: save your pièce de résistance as a custom path, connected path, or journey template. Click here to learn how.
