Let's say you or your client have had great success with a particular audience. Now, you want to build on that success by creating a lookalike audience. That's what this tool creates. Select the audience and let the algorithm work its magic by generating an audience with comparable attributes.
Start by opening the Suggested audiences window. Log in to illumin. Go to the top menu bar and select Library > Audiences. Click the New Audience button. A new window displays.
Select the Suggested audiences card and then click the Next button. A new page displays.
Go to the row of audience options (e.g. First Party, Third Party, etc.) and select a tab. The page displays a list of audiences in your library. Select one.
Go to the bottom right corner of the page and click the Generate Suggestions button. The window displays the Almost Done window with a progress bar.
Don't do anything on the platform while the backend work is in progress. Depending on the size of the original audience, expect to wait 20 minutes or more for the platform to crunch the data and generate a new audience.
After the work completes, the platform adds the suggested audience to the Library, which means it is ready for use in a campaign.
Strong source audiences with clear behavioral traits tend to generate better lookalike models. When the original audience performs well in past campaigns, the algorithm has more reliable signals to work with.
No, the original audience stays in the Library as-is. The platform creates a separate modeled audience that marketers can test or run alongside the source audience.
Marketers can adjust settings when the audience is used in a campaign, but the modeled list itself stays fixed. To change attributes, marketers must generate a new suggested audience from another source.
